TUG OF WAR SPORT (ENSITANO YO MUGUWA) STRETCHES ITS WINGS TO BIKA BYA BUGANDA ANNUAL SPORTS TOURNAMENT.
Buganda Kingdom is known for its great annual sports tournaments which include the Masaza football tournament and Bika Bya Buganda sports tournament which includes Football and Netball.

Discussions to adopt TUG OF WAR ( Ensitano yo Muguwa)as the third Sports item on to the Bika Bya Buganda sports tournament were held between FUTWA and the chairman of the Bika bya Buganda sports tournament organising committee.
After FUTWA's visit to the Buganda Kingdom's Minister of sports and youth affairs in March this year with a bid to expoler partnership options with the kingdom, this week on Monday 8th May 2023 a delegation from the Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations( FUTWA) lead by the FUTWA President Dr. Kintu Edmund alongside the federation Registra Ms.Nyiraneza Peninah visited Bulange Mengo to submit a proposal aimed at introducing the beautiful sport of TUG of War ( Ensitano yo Muguwa) in the Bika bya Buganda annual Sports tournament.

Omwami wa Kabaka owe ssaza Butambala Katambala Al Hajji Magala Sulaiman. The FUTWA President gave a brief background of TUG OF WAR and how best it can fit the current sports arrangements in the Bika tournament.
The President pointed out the advantages of adopting Tug of war to be played alongside the Football and Netball sports and it's ability to increase supports at the said tournaments since every clan will have to create a Tug of War team from it's sports supporters thus increasing on the fun during these tournaments.
He also pointed out that Tug of war (Ensitano yo Muguwa) as a sport does not require alot of sports equipment making it cheap and easy to imprement and the Federation is equiped with the necessary technical human resource but will also need to train more National technical officers from the different clans so that training of the sport follows the international accepted standard under the Tug of War international Federation (TWIF).
Owe. Al Haji Sulaiman Magala was moved with FUTWA's proposal and welcomed Ensitano yo Muguwa ( Tug of War). He informed the FUTWA delegation that the proposal will be table to the entire Bika bya Buganda sports committee for their final input. Other point of concern were for the federation to present their readiness which will include awards for the winners and sponsorship to motivate the different clans who will be taking part in this kind of tournament just like it is with Football and Netball.
A copy of the proposal detailing how this all idea will be impremented was handed over to the chairman organising committee of the Bika bya Buganda sports tournament and he gave is committee to working with the Federation of Uganda Tug of war Associations to see that every clan in Bugand trains and plays Tug of war.
The federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations looks forward to reaching out to different cultural sports tournaments around the country as away of increasing local communities awareness of the basic principles of playing TUG OF WAR thus fulfilling National Council of Sports requirement for Federations/ sports associations of promoting national wide Sports coverage of different individuals sports.
