UPDF FC STILL OPTIMISTIC FOR NATIONAL DUTY CALL UP FOR ITS PROMISING PLAYERS
As the Uganda Cranes prepare to take off for the pre-CHAN tournament, the FUFA Startimes Uganda Premier League table leaders UPDF FC aka the Army side is still optimistic to have some of their players called for national duty whenever the Cranes Head coach Johnathan McKinstry will see it fit. The club rests at the top of the log as the league went into a break until February 2021.
Many of the club fans are still stunned when non of the club's players was called up for the CHAN team saying their team as had a great start of the league by winning four out of their 5 fixture and currently toping the table with 12points.
Others football analysts may say its too early to call UPDF FC serious UPL tittle contenders but many people will agree that given the club's bouncing back from the FUFA big league to top the premier league with five games played amidist Covid 19 tough SOPs is something we should not take lightly.
Kefa Kisala's side UPDF FC are now serious tittle contenders as it was in the late 90's & early 2000s when the then Army side then Simba FC punished clubs in the then Uganda Super league and going on to win the Bell Uganda Cup in 2011 under head tactician Fred Kajoba with his long serving assistant coach Kayanja John & goalkeeping coach Sebagala when they won the then league champions URA FC by 2-1.
The new breed of players at the Bombo best club may have the right this time to regain their position at Cranes squad if they keep on with this great performance when the league resumes in Feb 2021 Army side now UPDF FC will be visiting their former coach Fred Kajoba's side Vipers SC at ST Marys Stadium Kitende. Both clubs will be looking at extending their winning run.
The Contingent of 25 players will depart to Cameroon on Monday afternoon (3pm). Without the former Long serving National team Goal keeping coach Fred Kajoba after he was sidelined for leaving camp to attend Christmas prayers on Friday 25 December 2020 faulting the teams Covid 19 regulations.
