TUG OF WAR SPORT RAISES HOPE FOR RURAL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS TO COMPETE AT NATIONAL LEVEL.

For any game or sport to grow the right channel is through schools since it's were the young , energetic and talented souls are. It's on this note that the Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations (FUTWA)  as embarked on a campaign to take the beautiful sport of TUG OF WAR to both Primary and Secondary Schools across the country.

The FUTWA President had this to said that; For other Federations their interests are in only school in Kampala but FUTWA is focusing on reaching out to most Rural schools especially the community based government aided schools and Private schools.

ST Johnmary Bugonzi RC Primary school  is one of the Catholic based and government aided Schools in Kalungu District. Mr. Kibira Emma the school's games teacher thanked FUTWA for choosing their school as a demonstration school for this beautiful sport and pledge to work with the FUTWA to see that Tug of War sport is embraced in Kalungu District given that it's a sport that any one including teachers , students and the entire community can engage in on top of it being a physical fitness sport.

LUUKA DISTRICT TUG OF WAR HEROES DAY CELEBRATIONS
ST Gonzaga Bukoma Primary school won this year's Luuka District Tug of War Heroes day celebration Galla last month on 9th June.
The day was graced by the Luuka District primary schools sport Cordinator Mr.Bilungi David who thanked the Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations for choosing to celebrate heroes day with the people of Luuka District and Mwesigwa International School for children with Disabilities.

Nawandala CD Secondary School won the Luuka District Tug of War Heroes day celebrations Galla for the under 23.

More schools are yet to be visited and trained in preparation for the upcoming, first of it's kind National Primary and Secondary schools Tug of War Championships respectivly early next year.

FUTWA calls upon government through National council of sports to support rural schools sports programs so as to give the children in these rural communities a chance to compete with those un urban schools at the national level.
