FEDERATION OF UGANDA TUG OF WAR ASSOCIATIONS APPOINTS NEW GENERAL SECRETARY

 

In Uganda Tug War was popular in the 70's and went on to be played at an amateur level in most schools and also as recreation sport but due to lack of a well organised legal regulating body the sport lost its popularity in the country the following years.

The Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations (FUTWA) is the governing body for tug of war in Uganda and was founded in 2020 with the objective of developing tug of war. We organise tug of war events throughout the year including league events and national championships for mens teams, ladies teams, junior teams, U23 and mixed teams.

News coming indicate that in one of the efforts by the Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations (FUTWA) to improve the image of the beautiful sports of TUG OF WAR in Uganda, the FUTWA National Executive committee appointed a new General secretary on 21st July 2022 whose main objective will be to work with the President to ensure that the NEC to Formulates and regularly review the FUTWA mission and strategic plan to ensure it is able to monitor annual plans and targets. 

The new General Secretary (GS) is non other than Mr. RONALD MAYANJA OMUGALANDA he over from the former GS Dr KIMBUGWE PETER  who as been elevated to the position Vice President Technical. The new GS takes over when FUTWA is faced with a task of launching  TUG OF WAR at the forthcoming Inter-forces games which will be hosted by the Wild Life Authority (UWA) in September this year at the queen Elizabeth national game park other security organisations will include UPDF, Uganda Police Force and Uganda Prisons Service. These will compete in others games which will include;  football, Netball, Athletics, Tikondo to mention but a few.

In an interview with the president FUTWA, Dr. KINTU EDMUND, he noted that he was extremely proud  and excited of the new  appointed General secretary  and therefore looks forward to achieving a lot with him basing on his positive track record of working with the cooperate world he continued to say that OMUGALANDA was really the missing piece of the puzzle for TUG OF WAR to take shape.
