FEDERATION OF UGANDA TUG OF WAR ASSOCIATIONS

 Who We Are

The Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations is the governing body for tug of war in Uganda and was founded in 2020 with the objective of developing tug of war. We organise tug of war events throughout the year including league events and national championships for mens teams, ladies teams, junior teams, U23 and mixed teams.

The sport of tug of war was part of the Olympic Games programme from 1900 until 1920 inclusive but lost its status after the Antwerp Games.

In Uganda Tug War was popular in the 70's and went on to be played at an amateur level in most schools but due to lack of a well organised legal regulating body the sport lost its popularity in the country the following years. The Federation Of Uganda Tug Of War Associations  (FUTWA) was created in 2020 by its first and current president Mr KINTU EDMUND a sports enthusiast and administrator after realizing a vacuum in the management and regulation of this ounce popular Sport in Uganda.
